THE PATH TO ENERGY EFFICIENCY

Process optimization

Retooling

Process instabilities cause long and uneconomical series production runs, in which the quality requirements for the workpiece are often not met. Occurring vibrations of the machine structure also limit the service life of mechanical and electronic machine components. Moreover, outdated or non-existent automation systems cause unnecessarily high energy costs due to low machine utilization.

The way to efficiency is to take measures that are individually tailored to your machine type and the workpiece and which optimize your processes.

WMS Monitoring

Identifying problems before they occur

Uninterrupted machining processes are critical to any production and the basic prerequisite for fast, efficient, and therefore economical work.  To make manufacturing processes even more reliable and stable, we have developed WMS Monitoring – a reliable tool wear and collision detection system for the reduction of unplanned downtime.

For machining technology, WMS Monitoring is the efficient solution especially for lathes and milling machines from the DVS TECHNOLOGY Group, with which both the productivity of the system and the economic feasibility can be improved.

How does WMS Monitoring work?

WMS Monitoring accesses the current values of the digital drives of the machine tool directly. The system automatically learns the maximum current values of the monitored drives for each new tool and documents them in the file system. The continuous analysis detects errors and dangers caused by tool wear, for example. When a tool wears out, the current value of the associated drives changes. The maximum number of tools is not affected when using the file system, as this is only limited by the size of the SD card or HDD/SSD.

The monitoring values are set via the HMI. The response of each tool to a message, alarm, or immediate stop can also be selected individually.

WMS Monitoring is the innovative solution that, above all, greatly reduces the risk of unplanned machine downtimes and collisions. Because broken or defective tools usually rip the workpieces out of the clamp, which results in enormous damage to the tool turret or the main spindle. Depending on the damage, the repair costs can be as high as 20,000–30,000 euros plus the loss of production.
